Port Douglas is very family friendly with many family friendly tours and activities for families with young children.  

The must do tour from Port Douglas is a visit to the Great Barrier Reef. 

When travelling with young children the Low Isles is a perfect day for a family. 

If you are travelling with older children who can snorkel or swim with ease the Quicksilver is excellent as it has a pontoon with an underwater observatory and a semi-submarine tour.  If your children are competent swimmers there is no reason why you can't head out on any of the Outer Barrier Reef tours from Port Douglas.  They all provide snorkelling gear and instruction and all tour operators are very enthusiastic about safety and making sure that every body has a great day.  

We also have a lovely beach of course and are currently in the process of finalising our plans for a huge family oriented swimming lagoon for all visitors.  

Rainforest Habitat is an excellent wildlife exhibit with many free flying birds.  There are also kangaroos that you are able to hand feed and crocodiles that are well are truly out of reach but still able to be seen.  

Horseriding is a brilliant feel good activity for all ages and you do not need to have prior experience.  Horseriding is very popular and is generally a half day activity where your family can have a truly memorable experience within a rural setting and a ride along beautiful Wonga beach.  

The Australian Muster experience is a new show that is excellent for international visitors and those looking for a fun activity.  

Fishing is a great way for fathers and kids to have some fun together and Norseman is the only fishing company that cater for kids in Port Douglas.

Hartleys Crocodile Farm  is a great day out where you can get very up close and personal with our native wildlife!!  There are great photo opportunities and memorable shows.  

Kuranda Train and Skyrail tour is a fantastic daytrip and popular with people of all ages.   Reef & Rainforest Connections offer special family rates for this great combo tour where you have time at your own leisure to explore Kuranda and all of the attractions on offer.   

Mossman Gorge is a spectacular rainforest river where you can have an exhilerating swim in the clear waters and totally rejuvenate your mind and skin!  It is freezing but Jump In!  There are lovely rocks you can warm up on in the river.  There is also a very good walk that is relatively easy to do for kids of all ages.  This is the Daintree World Heritage listed National park and there are tours to this area with Daintree Discovery Tours or you can hire a car and self drive for an afternoon activity.  

Taking a cruise on the Daintree River is another excellent activity where you can see birdlife and river life in a wild and remote location.  There are many boat operators and many passionate people who run these cruises.  Some people specialise in bird watching and some have electric boats.  All tours to Cape Tribulation include a Daintree River cruise as a highlight of their tour.
